I wanted to understand what was actually going on.

What was going on

I had a bunch of symptoms that, individually, didn't seem like a huge deal, but I always had this feeling that they were connected. My cycle was off, I had chronic fatigue, my skin was breaking out, my digestion was bad, and I just didn't feel like I understood what was going on with my body. I'd also been interested in holistic health for years — in high school, I shadowed a naturopathic doctor and learned about the food system and food as medicine, which completely changed the way I thought about health.

What she tried

I went pretty deep into trying to figure things out for myself — supplements, changing my diet, different practitioners, acupuncture, meditation, and a lot of reading and Googling. The more I learned, the more I realized there wasn't one person or one answer that could explain everything. I wanted to understand the why, not just manage whatever symptom was bothering me that week.

Who she worked with

After confirming with my primary care doctor, endocrinologist, and gynecologist that nothing serious was going on and that my labs looked relatively normal, I still wasn't getting answers — or much relief from my symptoms. So I started looking beyond traditional healthcare, working with naturopathic doctors like Hannah Moore, acupuncturists, functional practitioners, and bodyworkers like Tracy Piper and Melissa Love.

The experience

The biggest shift was finding practitioners who actually looked at me as a whole person. Instead of treating one symptom at a time, they started asking questions about things that seemed unrelated — my cycle, digestion, skin, food, stress, sleep, lifestyle. It made me realize how much I'd been missing by treating each thing separately, and how much my mind and connection to self played a role beyond the physical things like diet and supplements.

Where she's at now

My cycle is regulating and my hormones are back online, but I'm still figuring it out — and honestly, I think that's the point. I know my body a lot better than I used to, I ask much better questions, and I aim for overall balance and love for my body. That experience is basically why Woo exists — I wanted the resource I wished I'd had when I first started trying to figure all of this out.

Go-to comfort ritual

Low lighting, baths, ordering in (ideally Locanut in NYC), a beach walk, and binging whatever show I'm on at the moment — super educational or major brain rot, no in-between.

Tell your past self

Keep asking questions and don't ignore the feeling that something is connected just because no one has an answer for it yet. That's likely your intuition, and it's better to follow it and find out it's nothing than to ignore it completely! Also, just have fun and be happy — don't take everything so seriously.
